Mac-Mini setup, Wired Apple Keyboard w/Number Pad, and Magic Pad, NO MOUSE. This is the family computer with 3 users.

Now the problem. When I first started the mini up it could did not find a mouse and the MP had not been assigned yet. So I had to steal the USB mouse off of the PC to even get started. I went into the System preferences and setup the MP. But these settings only take effect once someone has logged in.

The problem I'm having is with multi-users setup the only way to select a user is using the arrow keys on the keyboard to navigate. Is there away to make this setting active on power-up?

What settings specifically do you need that doesn't work?

most people ask about tap to click not working at the log in screen.

That can be enabled. My choice in doing that is using Secrets.
    Secrets
download the Secrets PrefPane and once you have that in, you have a new Icon in system preferences and can see tons of options you can change. One of which is enabling tap to click at the log in screen.

I found the setting, but it's grayed out and does not take any value, default 0. My guess is that it's not Lion compatible.
