    Hey there,

I've been set on buying an apple laptop for some time. I work for a university so I also get a discount which helps! I originally decided upon the Macbook Pro 15 inch 2.2 GHZ. However, I'm now wondering if buying the cheaper Macbook 13 inch 2.16 GHz would be a reasonable change. Can anyone give some advice with this? I am fully aware the the MBP is superior but in regards to price and features of the macbook does paying approximately 700 dollars more really make that much of a difference for a normal user? The most I plan on using it for is for programs such as Dreamweaver which I use at work and besides that I only plan on using it on a normal day to day basis (email, creating documents, possibly burning a few dvds for personal use).

Also, in speaking with a close friend of mine in our IT department, we were wondering if the macbook would be updated soon. The pro, the iphone, the nano etc have all been updated and the macbook seems to still be the same. I would like to make use of the free nano they are giving (must be purchased before Sept 16th) and I highly doubt the macbook will be updated in the next few months. Anyone know much about this as well?

    Thank you for your help!

Some expectations are that the macbook may be updated on the release of the new OS version in October. However this may be just rumor speculation among the mac community.

Now the two when put side by side are very close in size and proportion. Dreamweaver program you use will run wonderfully on the macbook. So unless you decide to play some games or more GPU intensive applications which you didn't list the macbook would be your prefered machine.

I'd suggest getting it early for the free Nano. GL on your purchase!

I would go with a macbook if you can dont need the extra options, it is plenty fast, and if you dont need the additional video card or screen real estate, then you could really save some money.

It is about 800 or so cheaper, so if you dont need it... then go for the macbook, only reason i got rid of mine for the macbook pro was because i needed a matte screen at work.

    good luck...

AND GET THE FREE IPOD DEAL!! .. :)

MB or MBP, both are awesome. For your intended uses, the MacBook will work just fine.

Sounds like the MacBook is enough for you. It'll do your tasks just fine. If you don't need the MBP's features, then the MacBook will run those tasks still fine. With Dreamweaver I would assume some sort of Photoshop would be involved, so if you can, upgrade your RAM in the MacBook to 2 GB. Don't get it from Apple (its expensive there), get it from third parties such as Newegg.
