hi, just recently my macbook been exhibiting a strange and annoying behaviour. when i wake it up from sleep and have a lot of application open the speaker would make a rustling noise which last for about a second or two. is this normal? is anyone else having this problem? (could it be because of the recent apple software updates?)

    thanks

Well,it's nice to know someone else has heard it. I don't know what it is, and I don't think it is always there. I wondered whether apple had put a sound effect that plays everytime you wake the macbook up.

I recently installed linux on my macbook - and guess what happens after waking from sleep under linux? The rustling is there. So it's probably a BIOS/EFI thing.
