    Hello,

I recently spilled a drink on my macbook and my bottom, left screen is damaged. I don't believe the LCD is effected. [IMG]

I have added a pic of my screen to show what the problem is. If anyone could assist me in fixing this problem, I would greatly appreciate it.

Try showing something else rather than just a white background behind the mark. I don't think the LCD panel or the backlight are damaged, rather the drink you spilled is now soaked between the thin layers of film in the LCD panel. I would send your Macbook to a professional technician for some disassembly and screen cleaning.

What did you spill? You may want to try using a blow dryer at its lowest temp setting (make sure that its not so hot that you can't tolerate it on your skin for extended periods) and see if that helps.
    Good luck

Make sure that it's completely dry before turning it back on or it will short out the electronics in the inside. That happened with my old phone. It got wet, and stupidly I tried to turn it back on to see if it would work, and it fried the battery connectors and the battery itself.

This would only work if it's water, if it's a sugary drink then the stain will remain in there permanently.

Thanks. It appears to be drying so hopefully the problem will fix itself.

Yeah, if it's water, then you shouldn't have too big of a problem once it dries. But if it is Coke or something sugary, then that will mess up the insides totally. Hope you get your screen fixed ASAP!

People often think that water and electronics don't mix, but it's actually sugar that kills electronic components more often than water itself.

OP, what did you spill anyway?

I don't recommend doing that, because the evaporated water will spread and there may be more devices be killed.

the blow dryer thing does sound like bad advice. the heat from the blowdryer might damage components, or bake in whatever is there... just 100 or so other reasons i can imagine why a blowdryer is likely not a good idea here.

Replacing the LCD screen on Apple notebooks isn't all that tough, so if the issue doesn't resolve itself to your satisfaction - try picking up a replacement from Powerbook Medics or eBay and fixing it yourself. iFixIt has some great picture tutorials.

Thats why I recommended the lowest setting and only if it's not uncomfortable on your skin.
