    Hi Guys,
Has anyone had any issues with their Macbook retina (15") when using headphones? When I plug in my headphones the audio starts to hiss and there's alot of static, basically you can't use the headphone jack. Audio out of the speakers in fine. I have tried multiple headphones and the problem persists. Is this a software or hardware issue?
    Thanks

Retina 15 here and no problems. I can hear the headphone out turn off when there is no sound though... there is a faint hissing if its on but even in a library environment, its very minuscule.

does it happen on battery power too, or only when plugged in? If while plugged in it could be interference in your area... if its all the time even on battery, then you probably need to get a warranty repair.

Hi Guys, Sorry for the late reply. It happens on battery and when plugged in. I'm using a US three pin plug.

Noone else having these issues?? I have dead pixels in my screen and now this issue with my headphones on my machine. Can I send this machine back to apple and get a complete replacement? This is not acceptable on a 2K laptop.

There could be some type of grounding issue with the laptop or with the power adapter. I would take it to apple.

You should definitely take it to Apple; that's totally unacceptable. Though I will admit that on my MBA I used to hear hissing/static when I plugged in Apple earbuds--never heard it with any of my regular pairs of headphones though.
