How much does this really protect a macbook? SPECK hard shell case. Does it protect from falls etc? How much?
    http://www.speckproducts.com/13mac-seethru.html

Is there anything less discrete that protects it more? How much does the clear show up on it? (white macbook)

How about sleeves? What ones protect the best? Are they convenient to use in a laptop bag? What is the best material?

What size laptop bag would I need If I had this Speck hard shell case and a sleeve?

I have YET To find a laptop bag that fits 13" widescreen laptops such as the macbook.

Sorry for all the questions. This notebook will be brought to friends houses for data sharing and brought to malls and book stores to write and web browsing. So it might get banged around a little bit but more jars in the bag only hopefully.

Thanks for all the help again everyone! :)

If something isn't necessary or a gimmic, please let me know so I can save money.

I have a Speck hardshell. It isn't really meant to protect against jarring, though it does a good job against scratches. STM makes various bags custom-fit to the MB - I myself have a small Loft - as well as a sleeve, the Glove.

I have a speck case, and I wouldn't trust it to guard my MBP from a fall... minimize damage certainly, but not protect. I still see the need to use an Incase sleeve if I were to toss it into a bag or pack. The speck case is best thought of as extra accident protection from dings and scrapes. I don't think Incase sleeves will do much either..they're just foam. Best thing you can get is something like Pelican which is designed to be dropped, run over and submersed

For bags I like Timbuk2, or brooklyn industries.. they have a bag I thought was kickin..but only fits macbook

I have an STM Glove case. It's a slim sleeve. Excellent product and I'm in the middle of writing a review for it. Will post here again when it's done.

I have a Marware neoprene sleeve - since I carry my MBP in a bag anyway this is the perfect amount of protection.

I've heard that polyurethane sleeves are the best for shock absorption. But I don't see one that is made for the 13" macbooks. Does anyone know of a company that makes one for the macbooks?

A review for the STM Glove is up on my blog. (See Sig) I'll also post it on this forum, under the review section when I get time.
