I am looking to buy a macbook pro. What is the difference between 2.0 and 2.16 GHz. And do any of you own a regular macbook? Is the screen big enough or not? Thanks

The 2.0GHz version only has a 128MB dedicated GPU, while the 2.16GHz has a 256MB version. If you don't plan on any hardcore gaming/3D intensive apps., you should be fine with the 2.0GHz version.

I am going to be using photoshop, illustrator, imovie, probably some finalcut pro.... I am a graphics student. I will use it for some gaming too. I guess I should just buy the 2.16 and then I will never doubt my decision.

Well when running 3dMark05 on my 2.0 with the 128 x1600 I got about 300 points less than a 2.0 with a 256 x1600. Add maybe 100 more points for the 2.16. It still really is not probably that much different in real world performance. If you have the money get the 2.16, but if it is buy the 2.16 or buy something extra (AppleCare, RAM, etc.) I would not get the 2.16. The speed difference, extra VRAM, RAM, and hard drive, while nice, are not worth $500. You could get AppleCare, add your own RAM and hard drive and still probably be under $500.

If you don't plan on gaming buy a Macbook.. you save US$800

get the 2.16 if you are doing gaming -
Since your a student, browse some of the threads here about the student developer connection membership. It costs $100 to join, but you get 20% on hardware. So for the 2.16 MBP, it is $2000 and not $2500. This should bring it much more into your budget. So after the membership it is a $400 savings. Mac sends you some CDs with delopment tools and such that I'm sure you could ebay or sell to get your $100 bucks back.
