    Hello :)

I wanted to know if it was possible to upgrade the graphics card on a macbook pro. My brother bought his last year and I find that although the current card does the job, it could be better. Can I do it myself or do I need to bring it to apple?

No, sorry. Very few laptop GPUs are upgradeable.

I would be very surprised if you could. There's the cooling but also the drivers (or am I wrong?). Since most laptops can't upgrade GPUs, I don't think its possible on a .Macbook Pro. It would be easier with an MXM compatible laptop ( http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/index.html).

If you bought it last year you probably have the 8600GT which is as good as you can get anyway. The 9600GT is not much faster than it.

Not like that matters much as you cannot upgrade it. It is all soldered onto the motherboard and the new MBP uses a completely different board.

Ya it's an 8600M GT but it's only got 128mb VRAM. I'll let him know though... Thanks for all the replies everyone :)
