okay, I just got my new Macbook. I have had a good time learning Mac until I tried Warcraft 3. For some reasons, it always lags/freezes a few sec then normal then freezes again whenever I play it on Battle.net. I got disconnected quite often during the game. There were times that it froze and I could not do anything but pressed the power button on my macbook. But if I play single player, I have not experienced this problem. Everything works well. This is very annoying since this game is a really old game and I have been playing this game forever.

I have read many threads about this problem on google but most of them were old threads. I am wondering if anyone with the recent macbook is also having a problem like me. Is there anything to solve this problem ? Is this heating issue ?

I was having similar problems trying to play DOTA on a Mac. In addition to flat out crashing/freezing, sometimes after playing a game, I would get a message saying an application is using the needed port, meaning I'd have to quit WC3 and relaunch it to join another game. Quite frustrating, and I'm sorry to say I have no help to offer you, as I couldn't find a fix either.

Thanks for the reply. Is this a problem related with the hardware ? Like the graphic card maybe ? have you been to the genius to ask about this problem ?

I sold my Mac off before the Apple store opened in Sydney. Besides, I wouldn't really expect them to offer any help. The salesmen there yesterday told me that a new Penryn MacBook would play games just fine in boot camp.

hmm not sure, my macbook is the previous processor but I don't get those freezes with WarCraft 3, and neither on my Macbook Air. That's brutal!

Do you play single player or on Battle.Net ? Do you use windows or OS X ? My macbook does that when I play on battle.net. Also, I think lag spikes suit better than freezes. I know for sure it's not my internet because my pc does just fine with the same router. One more thing, I don't get that lag spikes if I play with only 2 or 3 people.

BTW, which one do you think is better ? Macbook or Macbook Air ? I just got a Macbook Air as a gift and I am not sure which one I should keep. I have not opened the Air yet.

We can't really help you there man. Majority of people say the macbook is better, but many still like the Air. Best for you to give em a try for yourself(at an apple store if need be - not sure if opening the air is an option for you) before making a decision. But in general if you are going to be traveling a lot, have a solid desktop computer at home and are going to be doing light tasks internet use, word processing) the Air will suit you fine, on the other hand if you are going to be doing slightly more intensive things (photoshop, light gaming) the macbook will suit you better.
