My friend has an 1,83 ghz Core duo Macbook.
His battery just died after a couple of days without power.
Before it worked fine and held a 3h+ charge, but now it wont recharge in mine nor his macbook.
I tried the battery update but it says that the computer doesn't need to be updated.
    What can we do?
His macbook is out of warranty. Do you think I could send his battery in and use my warranty on my 2,2GHz Core 2 Duo (late nov 07) macbook?

Eh... I dunno if I would try to replace it under your warranty. check the serial numbers on the batteries. If they're the same, and you are morally okay with that decision then have at it.

Or he can suck up buying a new one and have a 1 yr warranty on a new battery.

Call apple you might be able to talk them into some deal. Do what I do- just tell them its rediculous that you should have to pay for something when it's do to a faulty product that came from them. They respond well to that sort of statement in my experience.

    good luck.

The serial numbers aren't the same on the batteries. I'm just wondering if I have a chance to replace it on my warranty.
Won't they send the new battery to me first? And then I gotta send my old one back? Was planning on sending my friends to them instead but it wouldn't be too fun if they start making a fuss after they recieved it.

It's hard to say. I've never had a battery replaced, only the magsafe charger. They said I had to send it back with the ARS type label, but when I got it, it had no return label. When I worked for a tech support group, we always had to disclose that the customer would have to return the defective item. But in many cases, if it was something cheap (like a remote) the company would prefer not to have the customer send it back, but we still would have to say, just in case.

Figure the same thing will happen here. I dunno if they're so anal that they have the serial matched to your mac or what not. Hard to say.

it probally isnt your battery nor your charger.... it's the battery charging board itself. every few months i have to take my macbook a part, just to unplug and plug the board back in. then the computer starts charging again and all is well...not really sure why this is, but it does get it back to working status.... ill have to investigate this further later on.
