An odd one this, which I've never seen before. The top cover of my sons macbook is coming away from the screen, it looks like the glue has failed, anyone seen this before?
Suggestions as to how to repair it other than going the Apple route, (no applecare on this)

I'm curious how old the laptop is. Heat might have caused this.

I don't think it's as old as you may think, I know for a fact the older macbook pros have an all Aluminum Bezel thus the likelihood of an aluminum bezel coming out is unlikely. What's more likely is an aluminum Bezel Cracking in half.

Again, my initial thoughts are that it's an Anti Glare macbook Pro with the Plastic Bezel that is coming out, but again I could be wrong.

It's a glossy screen and it's not the bezel, but the aluminium lid. Macbook is about 5 years old, but my son has had it for a year, secondhand.

If it's the Macbook Intel Core 2 (Or the first edition Macbooks with intel chips) It shouldn't have any clue and just screwed into place. The bad news is that this is a very difficult fix... Is the Bezel Black or Silver? That should be the final question.

That's behind Glass i don't know/understand how that Bezel comes out. I mean you have GLASS in front of that Bezel.

It's not the bezel that has separated, but the aluminium lid.
