I am looking at getting a MB 13" or a MBP 13". Can I upgrade the Ram in the normal macbook? its saying 2gig of ram, where as the MBP can upgrade to 4. both only have one slot inside for ram. Can the normal MB take 4 gig stick and run it as 4?

    thanks

All the MB & MBP have TWO ram slots.
You can go into profiler and look at the memory to see if you have one dimm of 2GB or two 1GB dimms.
    Usually they are placed in as pairs. ie 2GB = 2x 1GB dimms, 4GB = 2x 2GB dimms

Late MB & MBP do support 8GB, therefore a 4GB dimm will work, yet most users have no need for more than 4GB, if you use only one dimm, you will lose dual channel mode and the cost is much higher for the 4GB dimm

You can upgrade the ram in all new macbooks and macbook pros.. I would suggest you go with the mbp coz its made up of metal and more durable than than the polycarbonated macbook.

looking at going as cheap as possible. thing is, i have all plastic computers now, and they are babied!.....no scratches etc. so im fine with the normal macbook, which comes with a larger drive, the same processor, but less ram, but if I can upgrade the ram to 4 or 8 I will def. be getting one. I have drank the koolaid, and its tasty!

I have been using my mac mini for about a month now, and I love how the programs work, like garage band, imovie and Itunes....
