Which exact RAM chips come with the new Macbooks?

I have a Macbook, and I have looked all through the system information, but I cannot find exactly which chip it is. I was at the Apple store and they offered to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB (Kingston chips) for about $125. But now it is too late. I looked up the serial number of that chip the Apple Store was trying to sell me on newegg.com and the price was only $37 per stick - so I assumed it was a ripoff. However afterwards I realized I was not browsing the Apple RAM.

So, which of these 512MB chips, if any, is the one that Apple uses: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1328023876+1328123897&name=DDR2+667+(PC2+5300)

And which of these 1GB chips, would you recommend I get to upgrade: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1328023877+1328123897&name=DDR2+667+(PC2+5300)

I want to get something at least as good as what is already in there.

    Thanks for your help.

there is no such thing as "apple" ram. apple tests some sticks, guarantees compatibility with their products and charges a premium for it.

also, there is pretty much no significant difference between laptop ram chips from different companies (won't call them manufacturers). all the ones i've seen run at the exact same latency settings, and of course the speed is a given.

so find the cheapest stick you can from a company you feel comfortable buying from, in the size you want (any smaller than 1gb is kinda pointless), and away you go. ocz, crucial, corsair, kingston are all good companies. the newegg reviews are usually good at exposing any batches of ram that are particularly crap.

Thanks for the info. I'm aware there there is no such thing as Apple RAM. I was wondering which brand they use for their macbooks. Can't seem to find that information. Anyways, I am wondering why newegg has such a small selection of Macbook RAM. Only one of the brands you mentioned (Corsair) are there in the search results for 1GB DDR2 667.

What if I expand the search results to include all memory (and not just for apple notebooks) Do you think that RAM will work just as well and be compatible?

Here are the search results with the same specs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1309121113+1309221136&name=DDR2+667+(PC2+5300)

Kingston is present, but other brands have more reviews, cheaper prices, and equal 5-star ratings...

    Thanks again.
