    Hey Everyone!

So over spring break I participated in a convention for N.S.B.E (which stands for National Society of Black Engineers) and part of the time I was there they held a competition for math and such and my team got 2nd Place and we're to be receiving a monetary prize of $500/teammate. I was wondering if it would be possible to use this money to upgrade to a macbook pro. I have a friend that would buy my laptop for about $1000 so I wonder if there are any places that I can get a newer macbook pro (at least with leopard and 2GB of RAM) for around $1400-$1500.

    Thanks everyone!

Congratulations on the competition, that's really cool!

I think the least I've seen a MBP go for is like $1700 or so, with a student discount.

You can get a refurbished 2.2GHz MacBook Pro from store.apple.com for $1449.

I'd say that's the best deal you can get, assuming your state taxes are less than $75. (I can't wait to move to Oregon, on a similar note!)

Every computer that comes direct from Apple has Leopard now.

My brother's refurbished MacBook that he got about 3 weeks ago has Leopard on it.

Though, when those models were new (Same with the MBP), they came with Leopard from the start. They were released last November.
