    Hey guys,

I heard that the sound quality of the speakers on the 15.4" Macbook Pro wasn't as nearly as good as the sound quality on the 17"er. Does anyone who have a 15.4" Macbook Pro comment on the sound quality under iTunes?

I have to agree, the Macbook Pro sounds pretty darned good for a laptop. I also have an Acer 8204, which I love, but the speakers arent' as good as the Mac.

I've got a 15incher, and I think that the speakers are fantastic for a notebook.

Hey guys, thanks for the input.

I'm pretty much going to get the 15.4" over the 17", the Dual - Layer doesn't bother me much and I'll be waiting until August for the Merom.

Has anyone personally gamed on the 15.4" - inch? Is the screen size a bit too small for watching DVDs or playing video games?

I'll be using it for mainly gaming, school work, entertainment, and I will rarely take it out anywhere so the size difference isn't that much of a big deal for me, though I don't want to spend the extra money for a 17" when a 15.4" screen is big enough for gaming/movies.

The screen should be fine - 15.4" is plenty big enough for gaming (although older games may look somewhat distorted if its standard format as opposed to widescreen). Regarding the speakers though: A notebook's speakers are a pet peeve of mine when I buy my notebook, so I usually go out of my way to look for a notebook that has a decent built-in sound system when I buy my notebooks. I must say I was thoroughly unimpressed with the MBP's speakers - while not being terrible, they aren't as good as they're hyped up to be - they offer almost no bass (most other notebook speakers produce some sort of bass, even if its just a little - the MBPs speakers had a sort of "hollow" quality to them) and speaker loudness is lacking (my old 15" Toshiba with H/Ks were about 6x as loud at max. volume and offered much more bass). Other notebooks from HP, Toshiba, and even Dell have better speakers than the MBP IMO.
