Hi! Well, Im going to spain in a few days and well, I know I can get a better deal than here in Mexico, so I was looking for a laptop to get to university once I come back. At first I saw many laptops, the acer 3282, 5672, HP nc8400, and so on. But then, looking at warranty, acer's international warranty its, like they say, international (but not global, they just cover european countries) and HP's is global, but its restricted to availability and Im not shure whether there will be any pieces, you know, in case I need to take it to a repair centre or not

Well, I really liked Mac's warranty, and the possibility to get the Apple Care extender 3 year plan with global coverage. And before I buy anything, I want to ask you, how much battery life you get on your 15.4 macbook pro and in your non pro macbook

    1) Doing some normal work, taking notes, surfing the internet, IM, downloading things, listening to music. (medium brightness)
    2) Doing intensive work, gaming.(full brightness)
    3) Light work, notes, and light surfing with maybe IM(lower brightness but clear)

I have a semi gaming rig appart, (a desktop 3000+ 1 gig of ram, a vanilla 6600, a 17 inc CRT), and Im not shure If I should go pro or not, pro would be the cheapest one while non pro would be one with the one with DVD RW and 80 gb at least.

Thanks a lot, and I hope you help me to clarify my decision. Weight its almost identical, so as long as i can take in my backpack its ok, an average would be ok for me.

EDIT: When I leave spain I can get my tax back ;). Tax in spain is 16% and the configurations are Macbook 2ghz, DVD-RW, 80 gb, Eur 1.442,24 without the taxes and Eur 2.088,79 Macbook Pro, DVD-RW, 80 gb. Both wint applecare 3 years and an USB modem.

On the MBP, the average on normal computer work is 3-4 hours. The MB is about 4-5. Now if you do the #3, the MBP would be more like 4-4.5, MB about 5-6 hours. It's on Apple's site also.

Dellguy well, I've seen it, but i really think there must be a difference between what is claimed, and what actually is. I don't know.... 600 euros its a hell lot of money for gaming.... is there a chance that GMA950 runs BF2 or CS:S at super duper low settings? lol

At super duper low settings it would still be choppy.

At the bottom of this page (yes, click the highlighted page) you can see battery times for the MacBook, and here for the MacBook Pro.

The MacBook reached 3:13 hours or 193 minutes under heavy usage, 4:05 hours or 245 minutes under medium usage and 5:40 hours or 340 minutes under low usage.
    * High usage: Playing a DVD, brightness set to half, "best performance" setting selected in the energy settings.
    * Normal usage: Playing a stream in iTunes, WiFi and Bluetooth on, half brightness, "best performance" in energy settings
    * Very low usage: No apps running, WiFi off, Bluetooth off, brightness set very low, "best performance" in energy settings

The MacBook Pro averaged 3:17 hours or 197 minutes but under these circumstances:
The reviewer also tried a "Better Battery Life" test under these circumstances:
Which I would call rather respectable, if you are just writing in word or browsing the internet.

Thanks for the links, so, All in all Macbook battery lasts longer than Macbook Pro. Well, that is going to be a work machine so I think I won't pay the 600 euros difference to get a vid card and an electro iluminated keyboard which i know ill get used to it and i won't have the necessity to look at it.

The game link its also cool, well, looks like intel's chip is not that bad. Suposedly it runs WoW and Guild Wars, BFV (which i got), Americas Army (yay! a FPS), Far Cry, FEAR(well, 640x480).

EDIT: :( i think you were wrong, this is the correct one: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intel945gm/sb/CS-021400.htm
