I bought a 15" macbook pro last summer (July 2010) But it seems I never really get the battery life other people seem to get, at around half brightness and only having chrome open I get an estimated 4 hour battery life, which is nothing compared to others who have gotten >5 hours watching a movies from what I've seen on the forums. My battery life has always been like this. Is it a defect?

Chrome forces the Nvidia GPU to be used which kills battery life. I only use Chrome when plugged in, on battery I use Safari. I think firefox will also use the Intel GPU, so you should be safe with Firefox or Safari.
