Hey guys, well im pretty psyched that im moving over from a pc to a mac. As far as the processor, this is where i am torn. Between the 2.53 and the 2.8 Ghz processor. I am a pretty intense gamer (i play World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, Counter-Strike, TF2 and in the future Diablo 3), but also am going away for school this upcoming fall(so battery life is a + also). So when i go away for school, i want to be able to play my games, while also being able to bring a extremely portable laptop that can run on a full battery for a while.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

Bottom line is that you won't notice a difference in gaming performance. The battery life might be different by a small margin.

I'd say get the 2.53 and save the $300. It's not worth 300 mhz

Well also, there is a MBP im looking at that is NIB 2.53 320GB 7200RPM with apple care protection for $2400 compared to the apple.com $2,763(with tax). Which i find to be a GREAT deal...

    any more thoughts?

    thanks

sounds like a good deal if its the late '08 version. i also say go for the 2.53... the bump isn't worth the cash.

2.53 is the best choice in your case. also i heard that the 2.8 tends to get quite hot.

Amount of RAM and a faster Hard drive will be your best bet for a gaming machine.

That price is good but make sure it is the newer MBP. Apple Care is $300 and that specific notebook is about $2500. Make sure it is a reputable dealer.

    I'm pretty sure you'll get better battery life with the 2.4 GHz. The 2.53 uses a much more power-hungy, older-series T-processor while the 2.4 uses a nice, newest-generation P8600.

The battery life is also great on the 2.53. And with apple care, that price is a steal :D
