ASUS will be making the new 13.3 Macbooks, but does anyone know who manufactured the 15.4 Macbook Pros?

    Hmm.....

I thought the iBooks were made by Quanta and the PowerBooks/MacBook Pros were made by Asus.

    EDIT: Grammar error

in the past, quanta was the one who made the powerbooks, while asus made ibooks. considering this, it's probably quanta who is making the powerbooks. also, this:

    http://www.emsnow.com/npps/story.cfm?ID=17953

    "Apple MacBook Pro shortages
Shipments of Apple's MacBook Pro began in February, but the company is finding it difficult to meet demand. Apple expects to sell 1.2 -1.3M MacBooks in 2Q06 - good news for its contract manufacturing partners (Quanta)."

Yep, the macbook pro is manufactured (or designed?) by Quanta, and I believe either from engadget or gizmodo, the upcoming macbooks are from asustek.

Apple designs its own machines, that's why Jonathan Ive picks up so many awards. It's manufacturing that's contracted out. There's a similar misunderstanding in the Asus board FAQ which suggests Apple rebadges other manufacturer's machines. Said what?

Mmmm, my bad, forgot to fix that.

And yea, Apple carefully plans out, and dictates how to make their machine, all Quanta and ASUS does is do what they say :)

Now that it is clear Apple designs and plans it out, I wonder why the three chips are designed to be upside down against the heatsinks instead of the usual right-side up. Isn't that less efficient heat transfer?
