    Hi,

I am thinking of buying a macbook pro for gaming, but I would like to spend as little as possible. I would like to compare the benchmarks of the old and new versions of the macbook pro and also the core duo and core 2 duo, and the 128mb and 256mb versions?

If you know any benchmarks for any macbook pro please can you post it!

    Thanks
    David

Well I can tell you the Core2Duo will game better than the CoreDuo, not just because of the processor, but the GPU is not as heavily underclocked. Here are some benchmarks for you. A couple are my own and some are pulled from other places:

    3DMark05
    CoreDuo 2.0 128MB X1600: 2586
    CoreDuo 2.0 256MB X1600: 2866
    Core2Duo 2.16 128MB X1600: 3870
    Core2Duo 2.33 256MB X1600: 3976

The GPU in the Core2 should also overclock better than the CoreDuo. So Core to Core 2 is a big difference, 128 to 256 not so much.

Also note that most games like 2 gb of ram opposed to 1 gb. Future games will most definately require it for higher video/game settings.
