    Hi

I am running Age of Conan on my Macbook Pro in Bootcamp on low settings quite well:

    Macbook Pro
    2.2ghz Core 2 Duo T7500 CPU
    4gb ram
    Nvidia 8600m GT 128mb ddr3
    Bootcamp 2.1 Windows XP SP3

The problem is that my CPUs are running at 80-85*C and rarely spike up to 90*C momentarily. MY GPU remains around 75*C constantly.

When I log out of Age of Conan it drops back down to mid to low 50s when idling. In other games I have played like C&C3, the CPUs and GPU hover around 75*C.

I know that the T7500 is rated for up to 100*C

So my question should I be worried? i.e. should i get Apple to check the thermal paste or do diagnostics on my CPUs?

    Thanks

Sounds normal to me. Our MBPs run stupidly hot. You'll get the Apple defendants saying that it's the aluminium casing that pulls the heat away blah blah, but the fact remains, MBPs run very, very, VERY hot. I have the same *issue* playing Titan Quest with friends. Fans go to full speed, and the temps are similar to yours, if not a tad higher.

    But... it never crashes.

So yeah, don't worry about it.

Some say.... the MacBook Pro's casing is acting as a heatsink, pulling the heat away so the inside is nice and cool. All I know is...., that's just BS. :) ;) :D

    Thanks Guys

I get a bit worried when the temp gets that high.

I found some stands and I have the MBP elevated 6 inches off the table.

I am now getting temps of about 70-80*C very rarely peaks past 80.

So I guess those elevated laptop stands are worth it. Might get a 'real' one soon ;p

While I have you very knowledgeable gentlemen here. Might a recent Mac Switcher ask a couple more questions?

For the most part my mac switch experience has been good. Except for a few niggly problems for which there doesn't seem to be any solutions (just wondering if you have heard of any):

    1) When in bootcamp. When i disable my wifi the whole computer freezes requiring a hard reset. When i boot up again wifi is off, but if you turn it on and then off again it will freeze again. I have tried installing new atheros wifi drivers and updated to sp3 but apparently people are still getting this issue.

    2) Also when in bootcamp and playing games. Every once in a while I get a 2-5 second freeze (accompanied with a sound loop) and then the game starts again. Many people have said this is due to a audio/wifi driver conflict perhaps. There may be some truth to this as when playing Age of Conan via ethernet broadband I get no freezes whatsoever i.e. wifi off.

Anyway thanks for the pearls of wisdom guys. greatly appreciated.
