Any one still experience the blackout problem when playing games in Windows?
Is the problem fixed after updating the firmware to the latest one. Just want to make sure this is not a hardware issue cos I am buying a macbook pro very soon.

it's only the 27 inchers which are affected by this issue. apple has released a firmware update for these.

dunno what 27"ers there are... but the 15s that were blacking out were multiple issues, same symptoms. The lot that had bad GPUs were of course found and replaced for people, it wasnt a common or widespread issue. There is still times, on some peoples machines, that the SMC flakes out, and doesnt spin up the fans soon enough in Windows, the processor gets to like 210º - 220º F and Windows just turns black with a lock up... best way to make sure that doesnt happen (at least has worked for me and others I know of) is to turn your machine off and reset the SMC before booting into Windows... and never use any sleep or hibernate in Windows, small chance of it messing up...

me... I usually reset SMC... boot back into OSX and set the fan speed up to 4000 - 6000 (depending what game Im gonna play and how hot its usually gets) then do a reboot (not shutdown) back into Windows, and the fans stay at this higher speed.
