Hey, I was wondering if most of the defects are on the 1.83ghz macbook pros or on all models. Just wondering because im getting a 2ghz and hoping for the best. Also since i just bought it in this week has apple fixed the problems and/or shipped out newer versions?

    Thanks,Matt

What do you mean by defects? All computers have some problems.. No brand is immune.

Any new notebook that comes out of Apple's door is brand new with all the latest updates/revisions.

Anyone who has bought their MBP a while ago have the option of calling AppleCare and getting their MBP's issues addressed such as whining.

Yeah, no brand is totally immune to any problems, Apple included, however the newer the generation gets the less likely of any issues. Apple is however one of the brands out there with less problems. Everyone must understand that Apple is also carrying a new architecture and ironing out a bunch of bugs, soon it'll get back to the point of where PPC's were.

I have a friend with a Week 31 MBP 2.0GHz that he bought last month. 100% defect-free and it runs warm even when cpu load is 100%

Sent mine in to the local repair center in Denmark and guess what . . . they didn't do squat. Didn't even fix my bended Eject key. The reason: It was a cosmetic but still worked.
The whine: what whine? They changed the BOARD, INVERTER but the screen still has its chant.

    Going to call AppleCare.

And as an added bonus, they scratched up the bottom of the case as well as the middle of the screen.
