    Macbook Pro 13" white screen w/ center globe

    Does any one know how to fix this white screen on my sisters Mac?

    when she pushes the power button it just goes to a white screen with a blinking grey globe. Sorry i know its not alot of info but thts how she brought it to me.

    ah ok, that means that the mac is going to the internet recovery because it couldnt find a boot HDD.

    to correct this, you need to verify whats wrong, the HDD, the sata cable, or the corrupted install.

    To verify, when the white/light grey screen appears, press alt/option you will see:

    the image of HDD, click on it.

    If there is nothing there, I would reinstall the OS via the internet recovery, which is basically to click on the globe.

    Alright i couldn't click the globe and she left her disc at school so does she have to wait to get the disc or can she boot from a usb?

    She can boot from the disc. However, if it has OS X Lion (or Mountain Lion) on it, you can recover from the Internet. It sounds like Lion is installed since it wants to recover from the Internet. Verify that the Mac is able to go online and connected to either a wifi network or a wired connection. If it can't pick up a wifi network, connect it to via an Ethernet connection.

    Edit: if it came with OS X Lion pre-installed, she will not have the discs for that computer. Apple stopped including them when they switched to Lion.

    Thanks for the extra help Kornchild it wasn't connected to the wireless network so i plugged in the ethernet I repped you both. :)
