I'm getting a Macbook Pro in the next couple of days. Is it better to order it online or pick it up at the Apple store. I'd rather just get it at the store so I can have it right away. However, I'm thinking that maybe the ones in the store might be the older ones and could have the yellow screen issues. Also, if I get it at the store, they'll give me the updated Santa Rosa proccesor ones right? They won't give me the older regular Core 2 Duo ones by mistake or anything will they?

You'll get one of the new ones. I recommend getting it from the store - assuming the one you want is offered in stock. If you want a faster or larger hard drive, you'll have to order online - at least that was my experience.

All the MBP they offer at the stores have Santa Rosa processors. If you purchase one online, there are refurbished MBP's with the older processors, but regardless of that, they still sell the newer models.

You can't determine whether or not the MBP has the yellow screen issue and I highly doubt Apple has separated MBP's that have and do not have that problem. If you are worrying about them giving you the wrong MBP, which I highly doubt they would, look on the side of the box where the specifications are listed. The Santa Rosa MBP's processor speeds are 2.2GHz (15''), 2.4GHz (upper 15'' and 17'').

Actually, I went to get mine and they do carry the faster hard drives.

I did not ask about ram though....but I would buy that seperately.

Hmm, weird - the stores I went to when I was getting mine didn't have alternative HDs and specifically told me that Apple stores don't carry anything but the standard drive computers in stock. "Geniuses" my butt :p

I would suggest looking at amazon.com or macmall.com, since most people do not pay taxes (now if you want upgrades forget it)

Keep in mind that 250 taxes sometimes makes it worth going to these third party resellers.
