According to the graphical benchmarks at laptopmag.com, the uni body Macbook Pro doesn't have a significant advantage over the previous generation.

With that said, would it be safe to assume that the previous generation of Pros would offer the best graphical benchmarks for your buck? If so, should I consider the 1450 model or 1600 model?

The new unibody MBPs do not offer substantial gains in performance. They do however, offer substantial improvements in build quality and structural integrity. Also, there have been widespread issues with the 8600 GT card in the classic MBPs. Some have even gone far as saying that this issue is a "ticking bomb". So given that, although the older generation MBPs offer better value, I am not entirely sure of whether they offer teh best graphical benchmark for your buck.
