Hey all, I got my aluminum Macbook back in February 2009. When I first turned it on, I noticed the DVD sound make some noise every time I turn it on.

My girlfriend who uses the 13" Macbook Pro heard that noise and asked me what the heck that was..

I told her that I hear that noise every single time I turn on the laptop. She said that its not the case for her....

Is what I'm hearing normal? I do not know of anyone with my particular version of the Macbook!

    Thanks!!

You probably have a different branded Superdrive. Check your model and her model. If they are the same you might want to check it out, but otherwise, if you are not experiencing any problems reading CDs or DVDs, it is probably just a Power On Self Test sound.

That sound is completely normal and is no cause for concern.

My macbook has always made a noise like that; reckon its the laser moving along its path, nothing to worry about, esp at power on where it will do a self test.
