I have a question: Is the keyboard of the Macbook easily illuminated by the light from the screen? I know that the keys themselves are not illuminated, so I am concerned about this. I will be using the notebook a lot in dark environments.
Thanks for your help.

I use my Macbook a fair amound in the dark, and in my experience, the keys are pretty hard to see. I tend to have the screen tilted up past 90 degrees, but I'd think that'd be normal.

Yeah, they're not going to be easy to see, so you'd probably want some other source of illumination if you're not a touch-typist. I've seen little USB lights, etc. that are meant for this purpose.
Or consider the MacBook Pro, which does feature an illuminated keyboard - I've seen refurb 1st gen MBP's as low as $1299. -
Just get yourself one of those LED USB lights, and you are all set to type in the dark!
