This is actually a pretty cool mod, even if it does void your apple warranty...

Buy some colored plastic and put it below one of the keyboard layers

Why is this an "Alienware Keyboard?" Wouldn't it just be a rainbow keyboard modification?

Im wondering if the colors stay in that pattern or can be shifted and controlled like the Aliens can. All references I can to modding MBP keyboards for color ( normally red to preserve night vision ) involves just putting a thin colored plastic film between layers ( thanks mobius ). not actually controlling LED's or a driver circuit. now as for modding it I may make my husband do one since for night use red or blue is MUCH easier on the eyes for me.

Yep, there's no color change supported either by hardware or software

I would recommend tinting it a little green since it's the easiest color that the eye picks up

I thought I wanted to do this or a form of this but the truth of the matter is that if you have a Retina, I find that the screen is so bright and vibrant you hardly ever need to even really illuminate your keyboard. Any form of Illumination is just overkill
