If you look at the past transactions(all MBA's), the price has varied quite interestingly...

As ejl mentioned, looks pretty good to me.

I wouldn't trust buying an item that expensive from someone with only 19 feedback.

Thanks all for your replies, the guy definitely has macbook air, he sent me a picture of the brand new box with his user name beside on a piece of paper.

Very tempting but I need to get rid of at least 2 laptops from my signature to buy it.

What I'd like to know is how the seller has 4 Macbook Air to sell in one month so far.

My background of buying and selling laptops in the past is pretty extensive (lesleyp1)

This appears to be a legit add and a great price. I might consider getting the serial number from him and ensuring these aren't hot as he has sold 3 others now at below cost and he is not a retailer. You might also want to check out any warranty considerations with Mac.

Good business practices to follow as well....

Get his name address and phone number and give him yours. Call him on the phone. Once you have his info do a google search on his name, check his phone number with Canada 411 reverse and googlemap his address.

Yes it sounds a bit carried away but I am sure you will feel much better having done all this. I have done this with several sales... A good seller will have absolutely no problem letting you know that information.

Thanks but I'm not a student :p , it's been 10 years or so since I got my Bachelors. :)

Les that's some nifty tips but when I asked him that I was little concerned about buying from him he replied me back with this:

I then asked him specifically that he can send me a picture of the box beside his user name on a piece of paper, he then responded within half an hour with the following picture:

I know I maybe making a big fuss but I'm just little self-conscious while buying on ebay, that's why I asked for advice of experienced people here.

Thats when it becomes a matter of personal choice....positives and negatives.

You can always go into his background and try emailing the passed purchasers. I am always curious as to why someone would not give any personal info but thats just me.

Wait...if you put a bid on someone you can automatically get his sellers info sent to you from ebay...wait a sec...

    http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/AdvSearch?sofindtype=9#ContactInfo

There we go...been awhile. If I remember, as long as you bid this will get you his info. It also automatically sends him yours.

As long as you pay via a major credit card, you should be all set. If anything goes wrong, simply do a chargeback.

Taking Les' suggestion I've contacted the previous buyers, I'll update this thread tomorrow once I get a response from any of them.

I haven't placed a bid yet so getting the contact info. seems to be out of question at this point.

Thanks all again, for your valuable inputs.

Sellers will have to start somewhere...

Though considering his other auction of the MBA has a Best Offer feature, perhaps try $1,525.51 which is what one of his other auctions sold for.

The seller is a real-deal, this is what the past buyer said, I've also exchanged information with the seller, surprise surprise he is employed by the world's second largest company. :) , his information matches the address and name on his company's website.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread, I've bought a Macbook Air for a very good price.

It simply blows away all the laptops I've, the keyboard feel is similar to thinkpad's keyboard and it's way better than Macbook's, the screen is very vibrant and altogether the notebook is constructed like a rock.

I'm willing to write a review for notebookreview, someone please let me know the procedure.

Guys, does someone know how things stand with apple warranty for products purchased through ebay? Will my ebay invoice or receipt serve as a proof of purchase (and effective date of warranty) or is there something I am not aware of?

    Thanks.

Im pretty sure you can just go down to the Apple Store and pick up an AppleCare for MBA, take it home and then register it from there with your computer's information. Super Easy! (correct me if I'm wrong though)

I wouldn't do that, however, since my purpose buying from ebay would be to save money, not to spend more on applecare :)

    thanks anyway.

You shouldn't need a receipt. It hasn't even been out a year.
