That's unfortunate, but realistically probably not something that is going to affect how they're used. The HD 3000 in the Air wouldn't be able to drive two monitors anyway even if it had the bandwidth for it.

It's going to be fun to see the macrumors.com forums sperg out over this though.

OH?, it can drive the screens just not to any sort of gaming level. I drive 3 externals @ 1600X1200 + internal LCD off of an intel IGP ( full volt CPU and not the ULV version though )

Given that Anandtech stated the performance of the smaller Thunderbolt setup was similar to the large ones in the iMac, Mac Mini, and MBP, I don't see what the fuss is. It might be a little disappointing that the MBA can only support one external display (and, despite what people say, the HD 3000 in the MBP, Mac Mini, and MBA is more than powerful enough to drive more than one display just fine) but then again, we are talking about an ultra portable notebook. Ultra portables normally feature many design limitations in order to cut down the amount of space they take up.

Are you sure the output of the latter display is generated by the Intel chip and not by circuitry in the connector?

You might be right, I don't have any firsthand knowledge of it. That's just what Macrumors and the Apple specs are saying.
