Okay people so i have finally decided to switch to Mac.

So i was just wondering whether to go for the 2.0 Uni or the 2.4 Uni...

Basically ill use Garageband for recording, like to fiddle around with photoshop, light gaming like civilization 4, command and conquer. nothing to heavy. movies, music, browsing...

Dont really care about the backlit keyboard, its just that i dont really know the mac keyboard so i guess itll take me some getting used to...but i guess i can live with that..

another thing after the white macbook upgrade is it a good option?? is upgrading the hdd easy in the white macbook?

2.4ghz will give you a little extra speed, but it won't really be THAT noticable unless you are looking for it.

Personally, I opted for the 2.4GHZ because it will make the macbook last that little bit longer before it starts to feel slow and outdated when compared to the then newer models :)

A faster hard drive will offer you better bang for the buck.

If price/performance is your only requirement, then a faster hdd and more memory is the best place to lay some $$$. Thus you could just go the new white mb and upgrade those 2 things yourself. They are easy to do and don't void your warranty.
Personally I would get the 2.0 alu mb and upgrade to a 7200rpm and 4Gb. That would be a very snappy machine... but no faster than a white mb.

I got the standard 2.0 and its pretty snappy, I hardly ever feel a difference to the highend 2.53ghz MBP. But I just do light stuff.

Yeah, I wrote that in my thread 15 vs 17" thread. I just have no use for a MBP right now, and I dont feel for putting that much money on basically old architectures and a rev a product. I'll get myself a MBP in atleast a year I think.

Apple has no QC at all when it comes to personal experience. Even my macbook came with a battery latch that didnt sit right, a permanent physical dot on the right side of the screen, and its making some clicking sounds now and then. But I dont really care anymore, I'm not gonna waste more time wishing that a replacement wont be defect, because I never seem to get a fault free machine. If it breaks down or w/e it will be covered by the Apple manufacturer guarantee.

Used to love Apple. :p Now its basically a love hate relationship, the software rocks, but the hardware is crap.

Only reason I got a Macbook was that the new Dell XPS series has long shipment times, like till the end of february, and I need a computer now so I got the MB.

Well my family has bought many computers over the years, built our own, bought from hp, from dell, you name em, and this is the first time we got defective units.

Well, if I wait till fall 2010 I can buy my MBP in the states in a macstore, so if I get a defective I can exchange it directly. :D
