Hi.
I know this is an old problem, but I can't find the solution.
I was shutting down my Macbook and I closed the cover before it had completely shutdown. As many of you know, this causes the computer to lock-up, and it refuses to restart.
I know there is a solution that involves removing the battery, but I forget the details. Would someone please fill me in on the details or provide a link.
Thanks.

pull battery out and poof shut down! if there is no power going to the computer it is not on.
NOTE: make sure you unplug the ac adapter as well. -
Thanks for the reply, but there's more to it than that. This is a known problem and there is a published solution for it. For some reason I just can't find it.

Which Macbook do you have? CD or C2D?

Hey man I think u need to reset the pram. Look for that on google for your specific macbook

This happens on the CD macbook and is very annoying.

The procedure yuio told should work. Sometimes just keeping the power button with the AC power plugged will do.
There is an Apple update that is supposed to deal with this problem. After applying it, I found out that while the Macbook still enters its "zombie" state if you close the lid while it is shutting down, if you reopen it will resume the shutdown process. So, it is slightly less annoying. Is it so difficult to make it complete the shutdown even if one closes the lid as we expect it to do?
