    Hi guys!

I want to buy an external display for my macbook (the new 13" unibody one). But I would also like to hook up my ps2 to this display. And, but this is not a must, aslo a TV antenna....

The main thing I'm confused about here is the connectors for macbook and ps2 for that monitor/tv?!

    Also I was thinking of 20 or 22"....any suggestions/recommendations?

    Thanks,

ps: i'll also use this to watch movies. and i have a separate 2.1 sound system, so i don't need good in-built speakers.

Basically, you're looking for a monitor with VGA/DVI/HDMI (for Mac), and Component/Composite/S-Video (for PS2), and possibly a cable port. There are plenty of such monitors available (such as monitor TVs), although they can vary greatly in quality depending on how much you're willing to pay.

Yea, like budding said, you should look for those features. Although I have to say that I dont know how many monitors have a tv tuner built in (and a digital one now that america is going digital) It might be easier to get one that just has another input so you can go from a digital box into the monitor. An input such as composite/s-video or hdmi if its hi-def.

Or you can get a usb tv tuner for your mac and plug in the antenna into that and watch it though the mac.

Otherwise you're probably getting into the TV range(because they have tuners), rather then lcd displays for monitors.

buy component cables for your ps2 (can be found for cheap)

they look like normal, but have 5 plugs instead of 3.

normally you get 2 plugs for audio (left and right) and 1 for video.

you want 2 for audio, and 3 for video (red, blue, green), so that you can run your ps2 games in higher resolution on your large monitor. it will make a big difference.

I have the previous gen of this monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001278
Is this the type of thing your looking for, can't recommend them enough. Best thing I ever got for college, you can use it to display anything and everything on it, all in high def. Its a bit pricy, but its better than a tv + a monitor, not to mention takes up less space.

Thanks for all your responses guys. And apologies for my own late reply.

I do indeed have a separate TV tuner for my mac. So i don't need any built in tv tuner on the display.

So i'm basically looking for a monitor with HDMI (to connect to the mac) and Component Video (for the ps2)?

Then, do i need a special cord for the mac-to-monitor connection?
And for the ps2, i'll look into the component cable you mentioned masterchef341.

Sorry, i'm totally clueless in this area of I.T. :(

You need one that has dvi OR hdmi, both will work on your mac, but youll need adapter cables to get them to work. I guess the macbook comes with that adapter from mini-dvi to dvi, so you would just need a dvi cable in that case. hdmi youd need dvi-hdmi cable.

Also component, as you already figured that out.
