I'm buying directly from apple. I already have my mind set on it. My friend doesn't think I should, and wants me to buy from MacMall? Has anyone used this reseller to buy their Apple product? Any feedback?

Based on these ratings, I'd avoid them.

MacMall definitely sells cheaper than what Apple sells directly, but as saturnotaku pointed out, MacMall does have quite an unusual number of complaints. I would just go directly with Apple. Not worth the trouble to save that bit of money.

That's exactly what I'm saying. But at the same time if you think about the majority of people who go to that website to rate other sites are the dissatisfied ones. Regardless thank you both for the replies! I'm definitely going with Apple directly for my first iMac! So excited!

Absolutely. Its like that with forums too...obviously the ones with issues are going to post threads and such, to see if they can get the problem solved, whereas those without issues normally don't show up at all. So its true that these aren't accurate representations.

But at the same time, that is an unusually low rating for a large reseller like MacMall, so I wouldn't go for it.

Very true, I'm not going for it. I knew this before I even posted the thread. I just wanted to prove someone wrong really lol. Thank you for the confirmation!

Yes, but I've found RR to be pretty well balanced overall. They have plenty of stores listed that have extremely positive ratings (Newegg, Powernotebooks, Monoprice).

I've ordered from MacMall before without problems. I've also ordered from them with problems, but that was mainly with shipping and didn't really have anything to do with them.

Of course, that was...oh, I don't remember...10 years ago? Possibly longer?

    Things might've changed. :p

They were a big-name Mac Reseller even then. Heck, those were the days of the clones. Remember those? Gosh, sometimes I wish PowerComputing (at least, I think that was the name of the company) was still in business. :p

Oh yes, for a while during the early years of the PowerPC processor (pre-G3). I think even Motorola had a clone machine. There were only three or four manufacturers that made Apple clones, though.

This was all before Steve Jobs came back to Apple during the NeXT purchase. I think that was one of his first moves (or one of whoever was Apple's CEO's last moves, one), was to stop licensing to clones.
