If you haven't already read my post on my experience with MacMall, read it now! Otherwise, the following does not make much sense.

    ***
    The following takes place between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. E.S.T.
    ***
So as things stood at the end of 3 days ago, the item was supposed to be arriving sometime today. Yay. 2 hours of waiting and calling and fixing and waiting and fixing and calling and waiting, and it had finally paid off with the item being sent to the correct address and a refund of all shipping charges. Great.

Then this morning, I get an email from "my angel" which I spoke to last time:
Ah good, apology accepted. And they'll make sure it never happens again. Nice. Yay... but wait... what???

That means that it's not being shipped to the address I provided and instead I'm getting a complete refund? No, no no no, this can't be it! I must be reading it wrong, or interpreting it in the wrong way. Luckily, he provided his extension #, so I call it. No answer, so I decide to send him an email. But I get an automated response saying that he's not in office, but there are backups that I can call. I call the 1st one, no answer. The 2nd one is answered by some guy. I explain how I got his # and that I'm concerned about the shipment of my product.

    - "Oh yes sir, not to worry, the item has been retrieved and once again stored at our warehouse and you're given a full refund for it."
    - "no no no no no no NOOOO!"
    - "excuse me, sir?"
And so I explain everything to him again... this must've been the 10th time and the 4th person I'm explaining this 5-minute story to, I think to myself. The guy apologizes for the miscommunication and asks whether I want to go ahead with a new order. "Yes," I reply, "but how many times can miscommunication happen? Twice? Three times? five times? TEN TIMES?" He's silent, and then goes into talking about the new order. Just before we complete the order I make sure that there's no shipping charge. He fixes that. Then I ask him about the rebate; I tell him that at the time of my first purchase, Microsoft was offering a $100 rebate on the product and I know they no longer offer it. Can I still claim my $100 on this new item? He puts me on hold for 5 minutes, and tells me that he's reduced the price by $100 and that I don't need to fill out any rebate forms. So my total came to $26.91 for an Office Mac 2004. Not bad.

But at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if I call in a week and when ask where the product is, they tell me "Oh not to worry. We have shipped the item to 18 Baa Jenaagh Road, Apt. 178492, Tehran, Iran." I honestly wouldn't be surprised. I'll just die a little bit more inside, just a tad bit more... and perhaps take a step towards becoming bald.

Well, i disagree on both counts. The end of the last thread has more to do with Sam's Great Leap Forward from 3000-4000 posts to 5000+, so let all the yellers come and I'll answer them ... and I doubt there will be any.

Why am I still dealing with them? Because it's only through them that I can get the $100 rebate (now $100 direct discount). The rebate offer ended a while ago. I've gone through all that trouble to get it, I might as well see it through. How would it make me feel if I just quit now and paid an extra $100? Even worse! So no, the situation IS NOT becoming my own fault more and more.

Now, WHY THE HELL WERE THESE POSTS NOT ADDED TO THE ORIGINAL THREAD?

This whole saga is exactly why I LOVE Amazon. Not a single complaint four years running. :)
