The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Is it common for you guys to get the MacKeeper Ad popping up every once in a while??

    where does it pop up? when you are visiting nbr and nbr forums?

    It has never happened to me but I use ad blocks so I wouldn't know.

    just junk pop up ads from junk banner ads on junk sites... ignore them like normal. Now if you get one of the fake virus scanners like MacDefender, MacProtector, MacSecurity, and the like (all the same with different names), saying you have viruses... close that one right away, it will try to do an autodownload and run and trick people into installing it and its just malware phishing for Credit Card info.

    Always run anti-malware software. I suggest Sophos, because their Mac version is very good and free.
