    apple warrenty is second not none (for consumvers). all apple's warranties are tied to the machine and are international, so to the best of my knowledge you can buy a machine in the US and add Apple care to it.

    rather than pay all that money at the border to get it across have you checked the apple refurb site?

    yeah. from what i know as long as its still in warranty you can still purchase apple care on it. once its over you cant.

    just see how old it is.. if its from an authorized seller or not... if its New (open box) from someone who is not an authorized Apple dealer, then the warranty has already started back when they got it... so if its been sitting for 6 months, the warranty is half gone... but you should be able to buy an additional 2 years to tack on the end still.

    and, if it's been sitting for over 1 year, its done. no warranty options through apple.
