I am going to order a MacBook Monday. The low end one. My question is this, I can use the education discount, making it $999. After tax, it is $1118 something. I cant get it from Amazon for $1099($1024 with the rebate). Would you get it from Amazon just so u can save your notebook education discount for something incase I want to buy another MacBook or MacBook Pro in less than a year? The price really doesn't matter. I just think it's crazy that its still more because of Tax but oh well.

I would get it from Amazon because its nearly $100 cheaper. You don't get the free iPod though; I don't know how much that factors into your decision.

I don't want the iPod so that doesn't matter. I was thinking Amazon too, but thought I would get somebody elses opinion.

I would go with Amazon because of the reasons you listed: You don't want an iPod, you will save ~ $100 dollars, and you can save your education discount for something else later.

id rather go with apple. more safer and if theres a problem apple will deal with it directly. plus, its not like you cant use your edu. disc. again. you can use it on anything except another notebook for the academic year. its one notebook per academic year so you can still use it to buy future apple notebooks. (im assuming you wont buy another one anytime soon). plus you can sell the ipod for at least 100 bucks easy.

It seems with Amazon, you can return it with much less questions asked, for a replacement. With Apple, if something is wrong, they usually want you to send it to AppleCare.
