The new keyboard on the MBP is very hallow and cheap feeling. My older MBP keyboard feels better. Even the new MB keyboard feels more solid and robust.

The plastic keys feel too light and thin. Anybody else experience this issue with the new MBP?

The non backlight keyboard feels better than the new backlight keyboard on the MB. The backlight keyboard feels hallower and cheaper.

perhaps it is your keyboard which has a problem. go verify with another latop at your local apple store/retailer.

    Could be good info, this..

Im picking one of the 3 different 13" models on thursday probably, in a store, I have pretty much decided to go for the unibodymodel with backlit keyboard, since I will need the function and its 2.4GHz CPU... But if there is anything at all to remarke about the quality of the keyboard ill switch model instantly.
Ill deffo compare in the store.

they are exactly the same keyboard all across the board, including the new 17" MBPs. If they feel different to you, then its your mind playing tricks on you.

They are exactly the same though I wish they would have kept a model WITHOUT the awful chiclet keyboard. I didn't like typing on it when Sony made it, didn't like typing it on it on the original MacBook, and won't like typing on it in future models. The early-2008 MacBook Pro keyboard is much better in my opinion.

I have 2 Macbook Pros sitting here... a new Unibody one, and an old original one. I really though I'd hate the keyboard on the new one, but after using it for a while, I actually like it better... am I the only one that likes the new keyboard style Apple is using better?

He's spot on. this is something I noticed after just a few minutes in the store when I compared them.

The Macbook white and the unibody Macbook 2.0Ghz don't have backlit keys, so the keys are more pronounced and more solid.

The Unibody Macbook with the backlit keys and the Unibody Macbook pro which all has backlit keys. the keys are shallower and not as firm.

So it's an issue with the backlit keys more than anything else.

Probably something to do with the whole back light thing, but hey, I'm just guessing.

You're spot on. The backlit keys are shallower and don't feel as solid as the non backlit keys.

    That's just how it is.

That's not to say that backlit keys are awful however. My Macbook Pro Unibody has backlit keys, and I love it! Although even I can accept that typing on macbook non backlit keys is slightly better.
