I have tried charging a Macbook using the pro's charger and the other way around. They differ in size, but they seem to work fine. Any idea if this would cause a problem in the future?

I think the Macbook's has lower capacity, so it wouldn't charge the MBP battery if the notebook wasn't idle. Using the MBP's with the Macbook is ok, AFAIK.

The MBP adapter is 85 watts where the MB adapter is only 60 watts. A MBP adapter might charge your MB faster (especially when its on). A MB adapter might charge your MBP more slowly when off and very slowly when on.

I'm not sure what effect that will have on the battery, but yes, as jim says, they are different wattages. I don't know enough about batteries to say whether they woudl cause any damage.

the higher wattage translates into a higher current. the only way i see it affecting the battery is overheating it if it is drawing too much extra current. but at a little over 3 amps capable from the psb, i don't see it being a problem.

Using the 85w on the MB will not charge it faster. This was actually discussed in MacRumors forum. I'll try to find the article.

Thats disappointing. My MacBook takes forever to charge when its battery is low and I'm using the machine :-(

so does every other computer in the world.

Actually my Sony SZ charges quite quickly even when on. You have to wonder why Sony chose a 110 watt adapter the size and weight of a brick to go with such a compact, lightweight machine, but it will charge pretty quickly even while in use.
Battery longevity and charge rate are closely related - charge fast and you get far fewer charges, charge slow and you get more charges so I guess I can't complain too much.
MacBook and MacBook Pro chargers work on each other.
