    Here is what happened...

This is a friend's Mac. A week ago he spilled water on the keyboard. He cleaned it and kept on using it that day. But when he restarts it the next day, some of the keys on the keyboard doesn't work. Unfortunately, one of the keys is part of the login password, so he can't go past the welcome screen.

We did everything for the past week to dry the water out, with battery and AC power off. We couldn't get the keys to work again.

So, I decided to open the Mac and see if we can clean from the inside.

I followed the steps in this guide ( http://www.takeitapart.net/archives/macbook-pro/ )

I took the battery out, unscrewed all the keys, took out the memory, and then lifted up the front panel with the keyboard. Nothing wet inside, but cleaned it anyway. Didn't touch anything on the electric board.

Put the keyboard panel back on. But when I push the power button, the white led light infront flashs but the Mac doen't start at all...

I just don't get it. What did go wrong?

When I opened the Mac I have taken out the memory (1 slot 1GB) and replaced it back when I finished. But still have the same problem. Do you think I need to take out the memory and put it back again?

    Thanks nahiyan13,

OK. I reseated the RAM and it worked. It was my fault to not properly fitted it back earlier.

That is one problem. But the major one the led to this was to make some of the keys in the keyboard work.

    Any ideas?

I have thought about trying a USB keyboard. Does it recognise the new keyboard right away, even to enter the login info at the first Apple screen? (It is password enabled and can't enter the password because of the not-working keys in the keybaord)

I believe it is automatically recognized.

Haha, reminds me of an old Windows joke :p: Keyboard not recognized, press F11.
