I am going to buy a macbook pro next month, once the 17" have had time to circulate, just to make sure there aren't any serious problems with them. I wanted to put Boot Camp and XP onto the notebook, but I don't want to waste the space. So I had thought about buying an external hard drive and putting XP and any programs that are windows compliant only on the hard drive. Would this work?
The hard drive I'm looking at is the SmartDisk FireLite 60GB FireWire Drive, in case any of you know anything about it.

you should be able to use bootcamp on the external drive, and the mbp is external drive bootable. I remeber reading somewhere that someone put windows on the external drive with bootcamp and could boot from it.
