Occasionally while I play Bf2 in bootcamp using windows xp, my MBP crashes and I get the blue screen.

Does anybody have any experience with this? Any solutions?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Do you have the latest version of the graphics drivers? Which Macbook Pro do you have, one with the ATI X1600 or one with an Nvidia card?

almost positive its an overheating problem. get an overhead fan going or download smc fan control for mac osx, set the fans in osx, then reboot into windows without turning off the machine.

    I doubt it.

BF2 is notoriously buggy. Combine that with the shoddy drivers we are getting from nvidia right now and you have recipe for a bsod.

I have the newer mbp with the 256 mb 8600m gt. It sounds like the fans kick in just fine, but i can't be sure. Btw I was using the stock boot camp 1.4 drivers, and just installed a driver from laptopvideo2go.com, but haven't tried playing again since then.

Should it happen again, write down the error.

I don't think anybody can give you a solution without more information. You also cannot rule-out overheating. Definitely write down the error message as suggested above. Also, the next time you play BF2, run the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool and click the Start Logging button. The program should automatically save the temperature readings to an Excel file (I think you can choose a different output file-type as well). At least then you'll know the temperatures leading up to the crash.

Ok i'll try running the Intel Thermal Analysis Tool and will write down the error message if/when it appears again. It has happened ~5 times so far, but that was before I updated the drivers. Thanks for the suggestions though. =)

OK, cool :). Hopefully it won't happen again and then you can pretty much rest assured it was the graphics driver. FYI, I've found 162.18 to work the best (other than the Boot Camp Driver which is 101.34). I've had major issues (infinite loop errors) with 158.xx drivers.

I remember running BF2 on my Windows XP desktop and it crashed and completely messed up my whole hard drive. Yes, it's buggy.
