    Hi,

I noticed that there is a $100 rebate on a printer with the purchase of a MacBook Pro. Does anyone have a recommendation on the ones that cost around $100?

Also, will printers (USB-based) that I hook up to my PC work with the MacBook? I didn't see any parallel port option with the MacBook.

    Thanks.

Yes, USB-based printers should generally work with a Mac (most USB-based printers will have Mac drivers, and many of those drivers are already installed with OS X).

Regarding Printer recommendations, depends on what you need...... personally I'm pretty partial to the Canon Pixma printers.... I have an MP500 all-in-one that works really well. It looks like the MP460 or MP510 are pretty close to that.

Most of the printers sold via Apple are of pretty good quality - read the customers' reviews on apple's website. It also depends on what you'll be using the printer for as a general rule if you're printing documents and not pictures etc. go with a laser printer, it'll save you toner costs in the longer run. But if you like a 3-1 or 4-1 machine that includes copier, scanner and/or fax capabilities, then go with inkjet types, they are around the $100 range.

And yes, you should be able to use your new usb based printer on your pc though you might have to install some software and drivers.
