    Hi all

    Today my MBP (2008) died
after standby screen monitor wont' turn on backlight - I was able to see that all was working but backlight. So I've pressed OFF button to switch MBP off.

After that MBP wont even show "apple" logo on start up and starting melody also never played.

I've tried to boot fron MAC OS startup disk - but in vain. pressing ''D" or "C" on keyboard also won't work. I can hear disk spin up but nothing works.

How to boot this damn thing up? What can it be.
And how to export VMFusion files I need to other PC ( I don't have any Mac near me)

Try taking the battery out and then replacing it, failing that plug the power cord into the mains and attach to macbook,l and then it should come on.

Are you sure you don't hear the starting chime? Because if you can hear it, it might be this since you said it was from 2008

MacBook Pro: Distorted video or no video issues

That sounds an awful lot like what I had but I could still hear the start up chime even after the screen never turned on

Easiest way is to find someone with a mac to run target disk mode... otherwise pay for a backup service... or SOL (unless someone else has another idea)

Graphics card probably died, it was a problem with that model. Call Apple.
