My MBP has been having a problem lately shutting down properly. More than half the time, the MBP does not make it to the blue screen and shut down. Most of the time, I've got to hold down the power button to force the shutdown.
In terms of software, I noticed the problem shortly after installing ShapeShifter, Application Enhancer, and ClearDock. I have subsequently removed ShapeShifter, but have kept ClearDock, and as a result, Application Enhancer.
Could this be the problem? What else would cause this?

Are you sure that its not shutting down due to heat problems?
-
I'm not sure. If this persists, I'm going to have to take this puppy to the Apple Store.
-
Are you sure it's not an app failing to close?
I have a problem where Firefox doesn't want to shtudown, and it actually cancels my shutdown, so I have to manually close it. -
An app is not closing. OS X will not shut down if there is still a program open. It is likely one of the new ones you installed. Check to make sure everything is closing.

It could be a application failing. -
See the logs (either using console app or manually) that should tell you exactly what's going wrong in shutdown.

Interesting thought. I'm going to have troubleshoot tonight.
I know it always happens after its been on for a while. But, when I use it for a short period of time, it shutsdown fine. But, I don't use that many apps when its on for a short period of time. It could very well be Firefox. It can't be AppEnhancer as that it loaded each time regardless.
Another idea. Could it be the logic board? -
