Thinking to go back to apple ecosystem because dell tbh take ages in getting back to fix my area 51m.
anyway, does anyone with the latest MacBook Pro over here had tried using a VR headset with it? Oculus rift s or similar, as I work with unity and unreal engine in VR and would like to know if is possible if they can run under boot camp windows.
I doubt it would be very good for VR, I believe the GTX 1060 Max-Q is considered the minimum for decent VR experience and the Vega 20 is closer to the 1050 Ti Max-Q. You may be better of with a Hackintosh with a higher level Radeon card or just wait for the next gen MacBooks, if you want to go back to the Apple ecosystem. I suppose you could also just get an external Radeon GPU as well if buying a current gen MacBook. If I recall correctly Unreal engine supports Metal which is pretty nice.
As for Dell they're usually pretty quick, unless maybe if your are a non US customer facing a contractor. They gave me 4k fully loaded newer gen 7577 with a better GPU and storage, just after some minor complaints about my cheap 7567 refurb unit in regards to uneven core temps. If you ask for a better unit for "inconvenience" due to wasted time and productivity they can be maliable. I coached a guy similarly and he had got a similar friendly response as I did so it can depend how you speak to them too. Ive had good experiences with both Dell and Apple but have seen just as many people having terrible experiences with both honestly.

regarding about Apple, yes, I was thinking the same but it feels good to double check my thoughts, it’s true the graphic card would not be as powerful for the stuff I’m looking into, it’s a shame tbh, I wonder why they don’t want to put more powerful graphic cards, I guess is not a market they are interested enough as is not as profitable and they already have their business roadmap planned.
Get it with the Vega 20 Pro I think that should be good enough. That's what I did anyway, there performance difference between the Vega 20 Pro vs the stock Radeon is pretty significant :

I usually get my way with most companies lol, including the much hated Comcast! A lot if it is generally about persistence but in a soft and courteous manner.
If going decent VR performance with current MacBooks definitely go for an external high end desktop Radeon, in which case you can just get the standard RX560 version MacBook and put the extra $350 that the Vega 20 costs towards the external GPU. In terms of external GPUs, the RX590 is ~$200 in Amazon, the Vega 56 is like $360-$400. If money isn't a big issue definitely get the Vega 20 as its also got better thermals under combined load and much better GPU performance than the 560 version when using the laptop alone.
As for your question as to why not a more powerful GPU, it comes down to overall wattage and cooling solution of the laptop. The Vega 20 is actually pretty power efficient for the performance it gives, I believe the similar performing GTX1050Ti draws a bit more power.
For what the laptop is, and how thin it is, I'd say its relatively impressive. The closest laptop to it Is a XPS 15, and it throttles heavily to the point GPU intensive applications are essentially unusable
