    MacBook Pro 2008 (A1260) No power.

    Hi guys,

    I've got a MacBook pro that will not power on at all. I opened it up and checked the logic, and I/O boards and there are no blown capacitors at all.

    When I plug the Magsafe adapter in, there is no light at all nor does the MacBook turn on. The battery does not charge either and remains dry.

    What could the problem be? Is is the power adapter?

    To me it sounds like you have a bad battery. I could be wrong, but the fact that the Magsafe power light won't come on and the battery won't charge at all/remains dry sounds like a defective battery to me. Is there any way you can find/borrow a spare charger to rule that out as being the issue?

    I removed the battery and the same problem persists!

    The Magsafe adapter does not show any LED's whatsoever, nor does the MBP power on!

    Removing the battery as a diagnostic option doesn't work on Macs the way it would on a Windows-based notebook. Try to find a replacement battery from someplace that would allow you to return it if that turns out not to be the cause of your problem.

    So what you're saying is that MBP's won't turn on without a battery installed?

    Darn.. That sure is weird.

    It's either the battery, or the power adapter.

    Or do the same with a spare power adapter if finding a battery proves to be too difficult.
