    Hi all
    Do I need to use 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 memory or I can have 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM like on new macBooks?

    old macbook: 2x2Gb SO-DIMM PC-5300 667mhz DDR2 RAM

    new macbook: 2x2Gb SO-DIMM PC-8400 (i think!) 1066mhz DDR3 RAM

note that you can't switch. the old macbook uses santa rosa chipset, the new macbook montevina. also, DDR2 uses 200 pins, DDR3 204 pins. so the stuff's not compatible.

Why MBP won't work on 800 ? Chipset restrictions?
